A tool in film distribution. it means that the same film can have different titles in different regions (not only due to translation).

The changes can be minor (like adding the) or alter the title completely.

The reasons are usually within marketing strategies. Sometimes a poorly performing film undergoes a title-and-poster change and sells much better.
Some titles may not be understood in other regions, they may sound offensive or otherwise improper.
