ethnographic films

Documentary film related to ethnology. Very useful in studies as a tool in visual anthropology.
There are two kinds.
The first kind is created by trained ethnographers.
The second kind are films created by other filmmakers used in the study of culture.

The genre emerged in the 60s, yet its forefather was Robert J. Flaherty and his film Nanook from the North (1922).
