A person that replaces an actor in the process of preparations – when lights are set etc. This can be a very long and tiring process. The aim of hiring this person is making life easier for the actor, but the stand-in NEVER replaces the actor on film.

In order for the preparations with a stand-in to be successful the person should bear physical resemblance with the actor – height, weight, complexion.
