A genre is defined by similarities in dramaturgy, narration, mood of the film. Comedy, Thriller, Horror, Westers, Melodrama are all genres. E.g. thriller and horror are somewhat similar – both scare us. The difference that makes a thriller a thriller and a horror a horror is the fact that in a horror we have supernatural forces whereas in a thriller tgere aren’t any.
